How a logistics company operating throughout Germany stays cool even in the summer with our PV solution
Midsummer marks the peak season for the EDEKA Logistics Centre in the German town of Malchow – the extensive fresh and frozen food stores account for the highest electricity consumption of the year during the summer. It is a good thing that the solar system is also running at full capacity and covering a good 50 percent of the demand of the logistics centre. The roof-top solar system we designed and installed, with a capacity of over 1,600 kWp, generates a total of approximately 1,400,000 kWh of electricity per year – designed to maximise the potential for self-consumption.
Key facts and figures about the solar system
Location: Northern Germany
Output: 1,600 kWp
Type of system: roof-mounted system, self-consumption
Commissioning: 2023
PV² Energie services: design, construction, monitoring
Special features: tight construction schedule; construction while logistics operations continued
Project features and challenges
Here is how our project team describes the challenge:
The roof had to be accessed in spite of ongoing operations with truck traffic, and in accordance with strict safety requirements. Together with the EDEKA team, we developed a solution that never jeopardised continuous operations.
